USINA DO GASÔMETRO

Next to the Guaíba River is the Usina do Gasômetro, opened in 1928.
It was a coal power plant. In 1974 the power plant was shut down and
in the 80's it was changed into a cultural center. Currently
the building has six floors destined to generate culture. It is
a place for all arts, from handicraft markets to great arts
exhibitions.
A new project intended to extend the area destineted for culture and leisure, creating the Usina Cultural Complex. The idea is to restore old buildings at the port, build a public marine and an internal road to facilitate the walking circulation. This will allow the visitors to be closer to the river and the beautiful sunset.
