TOURISM
The
high standard of services that is supported by the tecnologic advence of new
IT equipment and the especialitty of it's human resourses. A new airport was open in 2001. The railroad terminal, the national and international
road terminal, the roads that connect Porto Alegre with the other brazilians
states and Uruguay and Argentina, putting the city in a leading role in the
Mercosul(the South America Comum Market). Around 6 thousand beds in 33 classified
hotels are an invitation for a confortable and nice stay for tourist that are
participating in events or who are on vacation. In spite of the development
and the efficiency, the capital of Rio Grande do Sul continues a very humane

Gastronomy
Known
as the city with the biggest european influence in Brazil, Porto Alegre has
a very atractive international gastronomy. All the world dishes join the typical
cookery of Rio Grande do Sul, that has very good meat. To garantee the complete
satisfaction, the restaurants also offer good localization, comfort and qualified
services, that are a tradition in Porto Alegre. Fast Snacks, pizzas, sweets
and coffee, of most varieable types consist the gastronomy that Rio Grande do
Sul capital was offered by the international companies that are located here
or by the traditional cafés and tea houses. Among the gauchos habits
are the barbecue and the chimarrão. The chimarrão does not have a certant time
and location to be tasted, around the city it is possible to see people drinking
at all times. The barbecue (churrasco) is a party or weekend food, when families
are together, at home or in a restaurant that has barbecue called churrascaria.
